1. What time is Check in/Check out?
Answer: Check in is at 3:00 pm, check out is at 11:00 am.
2. If we get there early, can we get in early?
Answer: We try our best to accommodate early check in whenever possible. We do need to allow time for the previous guests to check out and our cleaning team to get in and do their jobs. If you get to the resort early, there are plenty of things to do that will allow you to start your vacation early. There is hiking, fishing, a sandy beach and shopping nearby, among other things. If your cabin is available, you may check in early but will be charged $15 for an early check-in.
3. Can we get a late check out:?
Answer: If your extended stay will not interfere with our new guests' stay, we allow an additional hour for $15. Please notify the office in advance if you would like additional time to check out. Please be aware that sometimes we may not be able to grant this request.
4. What should I bring?
Answer: If you are staying in one of the cabins, bring your clothing and food. Cabins are stocked with dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils and cookware for your basic cooking of meals. Answer: We book 1 year in advance and offer our returning guests first choice to rebook for the same cabin/lodge for the same days of the week next year. We often fill up quickly, especially for weekends, and the only way to guarantee you get the dates you want is to book as soon as possible.
13. If I book in advance can I change the dates if needed?
Answer: Yes, we do allow you to change your reservation if your scheduled date of stay is more than 30 days out, and based on availability. We do charge a $25 "change fee" each time you change your date.
14. What if I need to cancel or change dates less than 30 days from the date of my original scheduled stay?
Answer: The deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred. If you must cancel your reservation less than 30 days from the date you booked, you will be responsible for the full rate of the room unless we are able to re-book the unit to someone else for all or part of those dates. We often turn people away to hold a room or cabin for you. By booking a reservation, you are agreeing to abide by our cancellation policy. The deposit will not be refunded even if the room is re-booked.
15. What happens if I want to cancel due to lake conditions or weather?
Answer: Please read the cancellation policy. Acorns Resort does not take cancellations based on weather or lake conditions. We rent the cabins and lodge rooms, not the lake. The deposit is non-refundable, you may be responsible for the full charge of the room unless we are able to re-book the unit to someone else for those dates.
16. Do you have a fee for vehicles.
Answer: Yes, due to problems in the past with non-paying guests taking advantage of our facilities and damages caused by them, we have now started collecting a fee for all visitors to the resort. Each vehicle must have a visitors pass and pay a fee of $5 per day to enter the facility. Each paying guest will receive a certain number of passes depending upon the units booked, all additional vehicles must pay the visitors fee. Vehicles found without tags will be asked to purchase a tag or be subject to towing. This is for the protection of our guests who have paid for the use of the sites.
17. Do you allow 4-wheelers or golf carts.
Answer: No. We do not allow golf carts or 4-wheelers due to the problems created by them, such as small children driving around, off and on roads, speeding, etc. All areas of the resort are accessible by regular vehicles for anyone who is handicapped and we ask our guests to abide by this rule for the overall safety of all guests.
18. Do you count children or infants in the number of paying guests?
Answer: Yes, children and babies do count towards the number of guests staying in a cabin or lodge. Babies and children normally use as much water and other utilities as an adult and so we count each person.
